Venturesome

By Steve Cochrane

I tried and tried but could not climb;

My energy was gone.

I felt discouragement each time,

Since I first tried at dawn.

As I went to the mountain base,

A plateau came in sight.

I quickly saw there was no trace

Of venturesome delight!

I turned to leave but then I saw

A hill with much, much more!

It had so much of nature's awe

I'd never seen before.
