Fempowerment
By Divya Hirani
Since the years prior to cognisance
When you were given the free pass of innocence
When your tears were not silent and secretive
Spoon fed behaviours to ensure you continue to live
You inherited this unfair biased world
One not tailor made for its ‘ladies, women and girls’
And where we should stand in unanimous solidarity
We get to work on our sisterhood wounds if we are lucky
Since the times that our witchy predecessors
Were beheaded for manipulating the laws of the universe
To the present day maidens of the market
The workhorses with femininity under straightjacket
We inhabit a world owned by selfish philanthropists
Against greed and inequality they raise their fists
But hide their true intentions like criminals conspiring their crime
Despite the propaganda is it really our time
Young men have it worse they would make you believe
But women despite themselves are being set up to underachieve
